The British institution that is Madness will headline the Radio 1/NME Stage on Sunday 11th July.  Madness’ classic singles put them right at the heart of British music and 30 years since their debut single ‘The Prince’, the seven remain a vital part of of British pop royalty. Last year’s critically acclaimed Top 5 album, ‘The Liberty Of Norton Folgate’ saw the band reclaim their rightful place at the very top.

Having recently walked away from the NME Awards with the highly deserved Best Solo Artist honour, Jamie T will take to the Radio 1/NME Stage this year. This poet laureate of British youth tears up the stage with a bundle of unspent energy and returns to Balado for the third time.

Paloma Faith promises to bring something beautiful to Balado for her debut T in the Park performance. The ex-magician’s assistant with an eye for dramatic fashion and a flair for flamboyant show-womanship, whose 2009 debut album has now gone gold, will turn up the festival wow factor with her stylish set heavily influenced by film and theatre.

Kerrang! calls Frank Turner “everyone’s favourite post-millennial wandering minstrel” and this underground hero looks likely to make the leap to mainstream success story in 2010. Spending much of this year on the road from sold out shows in Canada and the US to his biggest headline UK tour, this minstrel will bring his folk-punk set to Balado for a performance on the Radio 1/NME Stage.

Mancunian alternative dance trio Delphic return to T in the Park for the second year after going down a storm with their electronic dynamism in 2009. Music created on laptops blooms into something much bigger on stage with their spectacularly energetic live shows that have produced a flurry of broadsheet and blogger praise for their gigs and their Top Ten debut album.

Fast-rising Glasgow-based Kassidy make more noise with four acoustic guitars than most bands can muster with a wall of electrics, bass and drums. Returning to T in the Park after their debut on the T Break Stage last year, the band draw their roots from classic Americana and are set to convert the masses into fans on the release of their forthcoming debut which they have worked on with producer of the day Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys/Kasabian/Stereophonics).

Italian duo Crookers will bring their twisted tracks to Balado for their debut T in the Park set in the Slam Tent. The two mad men from Milan have had their remixing skills called upon by A-list stars from U2 to Lady Gaga. The hot fuss surrounding them is reaching fever pitch with the release of their debut album ‘Tons of Friends’ - the roll-call of collaborators on the record includes Tim Burgess, Soulwax and Roisin Murphy.

The Sunshine Underground took to the Scottish countryside to write their second album, ‘Nobody’s Coming To Save You’, and they’ll return to it with gusto for their Radio 1/NME Stage appearance at T in the Park 2010. Having cranked their sound up to heavy, the resulting album boasted pummelling drums, grinding guitars, breath-sucking bass and rasping synths topped off with lead singer Craig Wellington’s sky-scraping vocals.

The gentle guitar stylings, delicate emotive vocals and chorus harmonies of The Middle East are some of the loveliest sounds ever to emerge from Australia. Soon to find themselves on music lovers playlists across the planet, this currently under the radar band will take you on a trip of poetic greatness when they visit Balado this July.
